PROJECT: A MEASURE OF WONDER

A Measure of Wonder is an ongoing interdisciplinary project exploring attention, time, presence, and our relationship to the natural world. Growing from my Calm and Chaos landscape series, the project considers how sustained observation can transform the ordinary into something complex, surprising, and deeply meaningful.

PROJECT & SHOW: A HUMBLE GIFT

A Humble Gift is an interdisciplinary project and exhibition exploring memory, family tradition, values, and connection. Bringing together painting, sculpture, installation, and sound, the body of work draws on the symbolic act of giving oranges to consider how small gestures, objects, landscape, and shared rituals carry meaning across generations.

SHOW: RESIDENCY REVERIES

Residency Reveries was a group exhibition at Love Texas Art in 2023 featuring work by artists-in-residence Ariel Davis, Bernardo Vallarino, Kyle Hanson, and Marielle Guzman, created over the course of a year-long studio residency. Bringing together four distinct practices, the exhibition reflected the experimentation and development that emerged during the residency. Davis' contribution included photography, interactive elements, sculpture, and painting including Ladies Night Swimming Convo and the large-scale painting We’re Done Playing, an important work in the development of her figurative practice.

SERIES: CERULEAN DREAMS

Cerulean Dreams is a 2023 series of monochromatic paintings honoring inspirational women from previous generations. Painted with loose, immediate brushwork in shades of blue, the portraits move away from strict realism toward a more emotional and intuitive response to each subject. The series reflects on legacy, influence, memory, and the enduring presence of women who continue to shape those who follow.

COMMISSIONS: GLOBE LIFE FIELD

Created for Globe Life Field in 2020, these two large-scale oil paintings explore different aspects of Texas identity and the experience of the ballpark. One captures the collective energy and shared experience of attending a baseball game, while the other draws inspiration from the history of cowboys and Texas Rangers as riders returning home from the vast Texas landscape and wilderness. Each original painting measures approximately 5 x 24 feet and one was reproduced at an even larger scale within the stadium for a vinyl mural.
